2011 Activity Log

Kokanee Power and its members are involved with many projects throughout the year beyond the eight derbies in California. Here's a quick synopsis of some of the 2011 activities that have been featured previously on the Kokanee Power What's Happening section on the Home page. Many of our projects are documented in our Photo Galleries or Message Forums where you can see and read first hand reports of many of these events.

PG&E Donates to Kokanee Power - PG&E has generously donated $5,000 to Kokanee Power in 2011. Thanks PG&E! Click on the link for details.
Kokanee Power donates $5,000 to Feather River College - Each year Kokanee Power supports the Feather River College Hatchery program. Click on the link for details.
New Melones Pen Maintenance and Trout Stocking - November 18th, 2010 - The annual pen cleaning and stocking was done and this year both pens were stocked with Rainbows which will be released in the Spring. Click on the link for details.
Taylor Creek Egg Collection #4 - November 1st, 2011 - 194,00 eggs were collected at Taylor Creek for the final egg take. The total number of eggs at over 1.5 million. Click on the link for details.
Taylor Creek Egg Collection #3 - Oct. 19th, 2011 - 330,992 eggs were collected at Taylor Creek. Click on the link for details.
Taylor Creek Egg Collection #2 - Oct. 19th, 2011 - 323,328 eggs were collected at Taylor Creek. Click on the link for details.
Little Truckee Egg Collection #1 - Oct. 11th, 2011 - Kokanee Power and Project Kokanee volunteers worked with the DFG for the Kokanee egg take which netted around 680,960 eggs. All eggs are sent to the San Joaquin Friant Hatchery for processing. Click on the link for details.
Kokanee Power Donates Equipment to the American River Hatchery - Once again this year Kokanee Power has stepped up to donate much needed waders for their hatchery needs.
Kokanee Power donates $1,000 to Chester High School Fish Hatchery - Kokanee Power donated to the hatchery to support keeping it going during the summer months. A student from the school who helps maintains the hatchery was thrilled to learn his hard work was being rewarded with this donation.
Kokanee Power sponsors kids at the Kids Outdoor Sports Camp - For several years now Kokanee Power has donated to this great organization. This year a $1,000 was donated to sponsor 2 kids. Check out this years Thank You letter and Fishing Report from one of the kids.
Phil Johnson Memorial scholarship at Feather River College - Kokanee Power established a $10,000 scholarship fund at Feather River college to create an annual scholarship for students studying fishery related fields. Click on the link for details.
Lodi Sportsman Club Youth Fishing Day - The Lodi Sportsman's Club received funding from Kokanee Power. The kids had a great time catching fish.
Kokanee Power allocates funding for another Shasta Trout Pen - The new trout pen is going to be located at Jones Valley. This makes 6 pens at Shasta as part of the Trophy Trout program at the local marinas and resorts that support this program.
DFG Kids Fishing Program receives Kokanee Power Support - This summer long kids fishing program creates a lot of smiles and is very popular. Click on the link for details.
Shasta Lake Trout Released -The release of the trophy trout at multiple resorts occurred in late April. Click on the link for details and some photos.
New Melones Trout Pen Release - 4-27-11 - The annual release of the trophy trout at New Melones occurred and they were very healthy fish. Click on the link for details and some photos.
Kokanee Power Receives $500.00 from the Lincoln Hills Fishing Group - Kokanee Power would like to thank this group for their generous donation.
Kokanee Power Donates $525.00 to Sportsmen's Legacy Foundation - For several years now Kokanee Power has donated to help support Lincoln High School Students pursue wildlife biology and conservation projects and education. Here's a Thank You letter Thank You letter from 2011.
Central Valley Anglers Donates $500 - The Central Valley Anglers fishing club donated to the Kokanee Power Pen program. Click on the link for details and pictures.
Kids Fish Free for 2011 - Kids fish free once again in 2011. Eydeagraphics and MKM Diesel Performance Products are providing sponsorship for the junior division. Kokanee power appreciates the continued support.
