WOW!!! Kokanee Power of Oregon's Inaugural Diamond Lake Derby
was a huge success. 80 plus entrants had the time of there life.
This type of derby is new to the area and with the entrants not knowing what to expect. They were blown away to say the least. We had entrants from as faraway as Folsom CA, Mariposa, Coarsegold and one from Oxnard Ca, flew in and rented a car and drove two more hours to fish it.
The Oregon weather ran the gauntlet from heavy snow, rain, wind, to a absolutely perfect day Sunday in the 70s.
The Trout ran from 1-3lbs with the big fish weighing 3.53 lbs.
Total lbs for the two day 10.53lbs first place, 10.52 second place. I will try to post photos soon.
We can't thank Gery Coe enough for his participation as a entrant and his help and expertise in running an event of the type. We are so fortunate to have a brother club to show us the ropes.
Thank you Gary Miralles & wife for your sponsorship. Gary did his usual fantastic job at the weigh in and at the dinner raffle thanks again.
Thank you California for helping us get the Oregon club started.
Our president Greg Gram and his wife worked non stop for the last 2 weeks putting the derby together. Along with the crew that they put together from the moose lodge. Reregistration and weigh in went flawlessly. I don't know the numbers yet but I know that we picked up 8-10 new members. I would like to thank all of our sponsors for there donations and participation. especially Mike and Pat Boulton from Boulton Power Boats and Jim Biddle of Willie Boats.
