Fishing Lake Tahoe is getting complicated and expensive...

Postby HiTechKoke » Mon May 30, 2011 7:04 am

I saw a thread on another board and started to look into what it will take to fish Lake Tahoe this year in terms of the inspections / costs etc. All the information is here:

http://www.tahoercd.org/index.php/boat

So we are all used to getting inspections these days but it seems that an inspection for Tahoe is going to cost most of us $45 for the day given most of our boats are in the 17-21 foot class. This amount can contribute to an annual pass which is the only good news in this. The interesting part of this is it appears none of the inspections will be at the ramps and they are all done at ski resorts areas around the lake...

and their hours are from 8AM to 8PM so forget about that early morning inspection on the same day you want to go fishing. I've never fished Tahoe in my boat but would like to if I was up there at Stampede one day and then maybe go to Tahoe the next.

As for the other lakes in the area they will be doing general inspections but I am not seeing anywhere that they will be charging.

Thanks Kevin,
Haven't fished Tahoe and probably won't now. Looks like they're leaving it all for the locals or the people with big wallets. Looks like we dodged the inspection fee this year at Stampede. Per this link.

I also checked out the inspection form for Tahoe. They are taking down a lot more information than they need for the mussels inspection. Great way for our government to get more information on us. Why do they need to know how many hours on your boat, which way you came in, how many days you run and how many hours at Tahoe. Too much information as far as I'm concerned. Look for the little critters is all they need to do. Just my two cents!!!

I wanted to try fishing Tahoe this year, but not now- too much of a pain. After reading the "Why do we need the inspections?" on there web it made me think of our representatives in Sac & D.C. about the delta mess- sounds like the same type of parasites. :?:
