I saw a thread on another board and started to look into what it will take to fish Lake Tahoe this year in terms of the inspections / costs etc. All the information is here:http://www.tahoercd.org/index.php/boat
So we are all used to getting inspections these days but it seems that an inspection for Tahoe is going to cost most of us $45 for the day given most of our boats are in the 17-21 foot class. This amount can contribute to an annual pass which is the only good news in this. The interesting part of this is it appears none of the inspections will be at the ramps and they are all done at ski resorts areas around the lake.
and their hours are from 8AM to 8PM so forget about that early morning inspection on the same day you want to go fishing. I've never fished Tahoe in my boat but would like to if I was up there at Stampede one day and then maybe go to Tahoe the next.
As for the other lakes in the area they will be doing general inspections but I am not seeing anywhere that they will be charging.
