PEN CULTURE 101

I feel like we should be putting on a class. The title: Pen Projects & How To Get 'Er Done!

While others are preparing to start, we have successfully completed our preparations and plants for 2006. We now have 4500 rainbows and browns in pens at Shasta Lake, Collins Lake and New Melones Reservoir, swimming around and EATING... on their way to become the trophies of tomorrow. Simply put, the longer these fish are in the pens, the bigger they'll be when they are released.

So how did we do it? During the last six weeks, many dedicated Kokanee Power members and friends have been working on pen maintenence, building new pens and most recently, planting the fish. We've even been able to assist the employees at Collins Lake build Project Kokanee's pens with surplus materials and sharing our pen construction plans.

Through the cooperative efforts of Kokanee Power, the Department of Fish & Game, the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service and local support groups, we are able to provide better fishing opportunities throughout California for all of us.

All of this is possible because of our members and supporters. Without them, without YOU, none of this could happen. Thank you so much.
