Central Valley Anglers Melones Derby 08

Postby MrDwnRigger » Mon Feb 11, 2008 8:08 pm

The morning started early with a 4:20 alarm, made our way over to Glory Hole Sports to sign in. On the water by 5:40 heading up river. John Lico and I decided we would start just down from the logjam. Lines in the water at 6:30, first fish on before 7:00. I caught a small rainbow up on the surface. Decide to throw it back knowing we were going to catch more, big mistake. Probably another 30 minutes go by and John sticks a nice 2 pound rainbow, well we thought things were looking up. Troll all the way to Parrots Ferry Bridge, pulled up the lines and ran to 49 bridge trolled past the bridge out past the other side of Angels Point. Unfortunately, we only caught the two fish so we were out of the money. I don't think we were the only ones that were having a tough time. Sure was nice to be on the lake, beautiful weather.

Got a call from Tammy, said she caught one fish. Well her one fish ended up being a brown just under 5 pounds!!! It was her only fish all day. But good enough to get her big Fish award for 300 bucks. I was going to take some pictures at the weight-in, when I got there I realized I had forgot to put a card in the camera. Not like me, so I got her picture with her brown in the campground. Hopefully she'll post telling us how she caught it.

It was nice seeing everybody at the Derby...

Nice report Dave and great picture of Tammy showing off her fish. Would you know what took first place and by who. Also, Pineflat looks to be the hot lake right now with nice salmon up to 4 pounds ccaught rolling shad 60 to 80 feet. On anohter issue a neighbor and I took 132 pic when at Lake Mc Clure I plan on going thur them and labeling them and have them in a binder to share with anyone. Kent
