Melones 1/27 Another Brown!!!

Postby Koke Machine » Sun Jan 27, 2008 4:28 pm

Started out at the ramp with only one truck in the parking lot. Wind Windy and did i say Windy!!! Heading for the Spillway cove to get out of the wind. Caught 3 rainbows there and then headed for the Dam. Once i got near the base of the Dam, get another. Then heading out of the Dam area, the North Point my top rod starts bouncing. Pick up and thought i was snagged. Then a head shake. This is going to be a good one. Netting a 3.4 lbs Brown. Caught it on a Orange/Gold Rapala. F-7. Going about 1.9 mph on the Lurh Jensen Speed indicator. WOW!! Two Browns in the same Month!!! Released the other 4 rainbows and kept the Brown. Put on some Pro-cure Shad and Krill gel for scent. Note that it had a head and tail for the size of a 5-6 pounder. When i got home it was totally empty of any thing!!! Guess it was hungry!!! It measured out at 23"

Good catch Robbie and tks for the report. How's the lake level doing for water these days? Are they still on the lower ramp?

Hey Kevin, Yes there are still using the lower ramp. Lake is still pretty low. I've seen it lower, but it is still pretty low. That wind sure made for a fun time putting the boat on the trailer by myself. Sideways is the way it wanted to go on!!! Keep in touch!! I'm probably going to the meeting on the 30th. I want more info on our up coming derbies!!

Nice going Robbie,

That Brown sure looks long and thin. I guess you didn't try up river. See you there in less than two weeks. Unfortunately, I'm going to miss next week's Bay Area meeting. Need to go to a surprise birthday party that night. Keep me posted...
