L-Day Weekend

Postby backbrace17 » Tue Sep 02, 2008 2:56 pm

Friday,
Connie and I left Fremont at 5am heading to Tahoe for the L-Day weekend. After driving for a few hours, I decided to stop by Union Valley Res. for a couple of hours break before heading to Zephyre Resort. We got to the UVR ramp around 9am and were trolling the dam by 9:30. This is our first time fishing UVR so wasn't sure what to expect. Well, we landed 7 koks to 17" and double the amount in macks in 3 hrs of fishing. The koks came on pink hooch behind a green dodger between 55'-83', and the macks came on any lures that's below 90'.

Saturday
It was a bit breezy early but we launched the BBII anyway and made a slow run across the lake to Bolwin Beach (sp) around 7am. By this time the wind machine really started to crank and the sheeps were out in force. Needless to say, we only lasted 1hrs before calling it quit with 1 14" in the box. Luckily, we were going with the wind running back to Cave Rock. Made a call to a buddy and we were off to blue lake for some bank fishing.

Got up at 5am to a breezy morning. Took a walk to the lake around 6am and went to have breakfeast afterward. The big blue was unfishable.
Spent another day at blue lake with friends.

Monday
Left Zephyr at 5am and were back at UVR ramp by 6:30am. The temp was 30 degree on the truck computer. Ran back to the dam and the bite was wide open. Could not get the third rod down before fish on. The fish came on the same color and depth at Friday. But unlike Friday, the hot bite ended by 10am. The macks were still on the bite but it didn't matter. We had all the koks we wanted.

UVR is on my list of lakes to visit in 09'.

Thanks, Kev! Yeah, when we got to the dam, I stop by the first boat for a fishing report. The guys said they have been trolling all morning without a bite so they switched over to toplinning for trout. Not a good report for the long detour! Well, within 5 minutes of setting up, the dinner bell started ringing and it kept on ringing for next 3 hrs. Even Connie was complaining her arm is tire from fighting the fish. Got a chance to take lots of action video of Connie.

We need to visit/camp at this lake next year.

How do you post pictures?
