Fly Fishing Club as well. Everyone volunteering was busy. Yosemite Lake, Merced
Hooked on Fishing Day
June 6, 2009

Kokanee Power has participated in this event the last 3 years by providing funding and volunteers for the event. This year the Merced Fly Fishing Club, Knights of Columbus, Merced County Parks and Recreation and Kokanee Power made this event possible for those with special needs. It was a beautiful day and lots of fish were caught.

Kokanee Power purchased 800 lbs. of Trout averaging 1 lb. each from the Department of Fish and Game. 400 lbs. was donated by
Calaveras Trout Farm. The trout was delivered on Friday morning and the fish went on the bite Saturday just in time for the participants.

Anglers arrived on Sat. morning at 7:00 a.m. The weather was perfect and the fishing fantastic. 100 anglers attended and caught 5 fish each. With every fish caught there were happy faces and lots of celebrating. Lunch was provided by Merced Irrigation Department. It was a successful event ending at 1:00 p.m.

Kokanee Power volunteers, Rudy Paladini and Kent McVey cleaned and bagged all fish. With help from Jim Davis and Matt Vejar. Mario and Marg Lopez, Kathy Johnson, Steven Padilla, Gary and Jan
Starbuck and Vanessa Mendonca were on hand to bait, cast and help anglers reel them in. There were many volunteers from the Merced

This is a very fun event. Thanks to all involved for providing fishing to people who would not have the opportunity to know what catching a fish is like.
