Postby dbcfr » Sat Jun 13, 2009 7:06 pm

Hi All,
I am a new member of KP and have fished few of the lakes in the Fresno area Shaver, Bass Lake ect. I have been fishing Koknee for about 4 years.
We as a family have decided to make our vacation destination Flaming Gorge Utah/WY We have got a house boat for the first week in Aug. and will be taking the 16' Koknee troller with us...I guess I am looking for any information on FG.. What should we take, weather, temp, boat rigging, rods, lures, line size, Licensing, Bait, VHF Channels, Good fishing spots to get us started, ect...

Thanks

Look thru the fishing reports section on the KP site, that will get you started in the right direction. Lots of info from Kevin and a couple other guys from last year that were there.

HI Dave - Glad to have you aboard and your support of Kokanee Power is much appreciated. You probably saw my post from last year here:

HI Dave - Glad to have you aboard and your support of Kokanee Power is much appreciated.

You should take probably a variety of clothing but when I was there last year in August we were in shorts and t-shirts 90% of the time. As for Kokanee gear and setups they are all over the place and you can use all the same stuff you use hear but I would strongly recommend you up your leaders top 12 lbs as those fish can snap line very easily. Also if it is typical and you get into a lot of fish then go tot a single hook setup to catch and release easier. You can't use corn so get some of those Berkely Gulp Maggots, brown and pink and have your usual Pro-Cure scents around to spice it up.

Also I reco to get the Fish-N-Map Flaming Gorge series. You didn't mention where you were based out of and the Gorge is pretty big but the fishing is generally between BuckBoard and Lucerne. You can get the latest reports / tips / information from a lot of Gorge people at www.kokaneefishingforum.com as there is a Flaming Gorge section. Also the fishsniffer.com message board is starting to get back some reports as well. Hope that helps and ask any more questions you may have and I will try to help.
