Another great year for the Pardee Derby and a good place to concentrate on the fishing without the jet ski / skier crowds. The most popular spot for the derby was around Deer island but boats were scattered from the river mouth on up. For most it took a while for the bite to take off in the morning and fish could be had from 50 to 110 feet in various pods or individuals hanging in the deep. The heavier but shorter female fish with eggs is what helped most do better for weigh in weights. Fish in the 13-14 inch range that were just under pound each were the average size. Thanks to all the participants than came out to support the fishery.
